Geophysics is the application of the methods and laws of physics to the study of geology. Geophysics fills in the information gaps in areas where there have been no wells drilled.

The seismic method of geophysical exploration is used extensively in the search for oil and gas reserves.

West Bay Exploration operates its own Geophysical Crew. They use a vibroseis truck to create ground surface vibrations which travel into the subsurface of the earth as waves. These waves are reflected back to the ground surface by the rock subsurface geology.
The recorded reflections are computer processed for time and amplitude resulting in an image called a seismic section.
This method allows the Geophysicist to accurately model the subsurface geology over large areas without the use of bore holes.
Various attributes of the seismic data can be enhanced with computer software, to develop reliable pictures of the underground geology aiding in the exploration process.
